Shallenberger State Nature Preserve
About the Trails
The figure eight trail winds around two knobs and is about a two mile loop with a short cut across the middle. Two side trails lead to the tops of the two knobs.
How to Get There
Shallenberger State Nature Preserve is located close to US 33 near Lancaster, Ohio. From Columbus and I-270 take US 33 southeast 4.5 miles past Carroll. Just past the Fairfield County airport is a traffic light with a Meijer store on the left. Turn right at the light onto Collins Road. Go 1.2 miles to where Collins Road ends at Fair Road and turn left. Take the first right at .3 mile onto Beck's Knob Road. Follow this for about 2.6 miles. Shallenberger State Nature Preserve is on the left. There is a parking lot. There is no water or restroom.
